Marco Asensio had a tough childhood. At the age of 15, he lost his mother to cancer. He also struggled with growth deficiencies in his knees in his youth, which healed later in his teens. He discovered his passion in football, which helped him cope with his loss. After being scouted by Real Madrid and FC Barcelona, Asensio made his senior debut with Mallorca’s reserves in the 2013-2014 season, despite being a junior. He impressed his manager during his first few matches, and was promoted to the first team. Marco Asensio scored his first goal on 16th March 2014, in a 2-0 win against CD Tenerife.

On 24th November 2014, Real Madrid decided to sign Marco Asensio to their club. After having an official contract with Real Madrid, Asensio was loaned off to 2 other clubs before he got an opportunity to play at the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium. He started off his career at Real Madrid with a bang. His first competitive appearance took place on 9th August; he played the full match and scored through a 25-metre effort in a 3-2 win against Sevilla FC. Asensio also scored the second goal for his club in a 3-0 win against Real Sociedad. Marco Asensio scored many goals in that year’s UEFA Champions League, including one in the final against Juventus FC (4-1 in Cardiff), thereby helping the Spaniards win their twelfth trophy in this tournament.

Marco Asensio’s first goal in the 2017-18 season was a 25-yard finish in a 3-1 win against FC Barcelona at Camp Nou. He followed through with a similarly spectacular effort in the second leg, as Real Madrid won 5-1 on aggregate.

Marco Asensio made his debut for the Spanish under-21 team on 26th March 2015. In July, he was part of the victorious under-19 team at the UEFA European Championship in Greece, where he scored both goals in a semi-final victory.

Blessed with excellent vision and intelligence on the pitch at such a young age, Asensio has a great understanding of when to release the ball to a teammate and when to have a go at goal. Asensio can control the ball easily and has great dribbling abilities. He is known for receiving the ball from his defensive half and starting counter attacks for his team by carrying the ball through the centre or the wings. Marco Asensio has incredible aim and can easily drive the ball into the goal. His long shots are some of the best in the world!

Marco Asensio has shown great potential and is definitely a promising soccer player. He has not failed to impress the Real Madrid spectators with his phenomenal performances in the first few matches of the 2017-18 season. If he keeps up the good efforts and teamwork, he will go a long way.
